Exams! This one word experience can really cause havoc ya? Yet, we can simply not deny the fact that they are massively important and inevitable. Well, this shall not be my area of discussion today, I just realized that I could not write for so long due to this one word experience that I mentioned above. Anyways, my Jan exams have come to an end, and here I, Twinkle Pethad, am back to spread what I love spreading, stardust!
For this week, I have tried to formulate a small reasoning behind the existence of countable aspects of creation. I do hope they shall motivate you enough. So then, I will set the ball rolling with my most treasured treasure.
In today’s world we are filled with all sorts of negativity: name it and we have it; terrorism, crime, drug abuse, health issues, poverty, materialism, racism, gender inequality, unemployment, etc! It, indeed takes no effort to make a list of all these vices. Also, it is extremely easy to say that we wish to do something about it, that we wish to change the world. Nevertheless, the utter reality is that
people do nothing about it, and think that it impossible to do anything about it. Despite that, did you know that you do have the ability to actually do something about it?
All you need to do is to start with yourself. If each person tries to make an effort by improving themselves, you can actually make the step forward to making the universe a beautiful place. Now a thought must be arising in your mind, ‘Is this girl crazy? Why and how on earth can one person initiate the story of goodness in a place that is filled with all vices?’ When I was thinking about all these, for a moment I also took my thoughts to be crazy and exaggerated. Then I went to my terrace where I love going every evening and I have now made it almost a daily routine. I looked up and saw my treasure, I saw stars! Then I looked down, and I saw the city, full of its pollution, full of people with polluted minds, people that cannot stand to see another person’s success, people that are filled with jealousy, a city with hospitals where people who spent their young lives on drugs are in misery, a city with jails that must have hosted the country’s most dangerous criminals, a city where children and young ladies could not fearlessly walk on the streets, a city where old parents were thrown into old age homes, a city that existed in the world full of vices. Then I looked up again, the stars shone with the same brightness, the same energy! All these stars complemented each other; they seemed to pay no attention to what happened below them. It felt like they were smiling with enthusiasm that I had never seen before.
They taught me a long lasting lesson, that no matter how atrocious the world below them was, they did not change, they did not adapt to their surroundings. They continued burning, not for themselves, but to light up the world below them! To spread brightness below them, they all shone in unison, as they knew that if only one star shone they would not be able to achieve their goal, so inspiring each other, they all shone! That is exactly how we should want to become i.e. complement each other, portray the unity displayed by stars, and most importantly shine with incomparable positivity even though our surroundings are filled with negativity!
I hope now you do understand why stars happens to be the aspect of nature that I treasure the most. Also, to sum up the teachings we get from stars, I decided to come up with an amateur saying, “Never adapt to poor surroundings, because, even above the atrocious world, shine millions of twinkling stars!”
So then, what from fauna? From fauna I have decided to pick out the one example of fauna that inspires me to a titanic degree, birds! Birds unknowingly pass on to us some beautiful experiences that we should learn from. Baby birds are motivated by food. They always know that after some time, their parent shall come and drop food into their mouth. This goes on until the mother bird senses that the time to teach its offspring how to face the world has come. Gradually the mother bird begins to stand away from the nest to motivate the baby bird to come out of its comfort zone in the nest to get food! The nestling begins to realize that its source of survival is the food. Hence, it moves towards the branches. In the beginning, the baby bird falls onto the ground. However, doing this over and over makes the young bird aware. It begins to learn that by spreading its wings it shall be able to reduce the force with which it falls to the ground and hence, it will make an effort to flap its wings more and more. This gives the baby bird positive fortification. The fact that it can fly back to get food after falling, motivates the baby bird. The process encourages the bird to fly and reach out to the greatest of heights! The mother bird succeeds in its mission!
This is a live example of how these creatures realize that being spoon-fed takes you nowhere. We need to gain realization of this vital truth. Today’s youth are very much used to being given everything into their hands. And yet we do know that this is what will turn out to be the cause of future destruction. The mother bird, knew exactly that if she never taught her offspring to fly on its own, the nestling would never gain the opportunity to reach out to the world and live new experiences, she let her baby suffer in front of her eyes, yet, she acknowledged the fact that she was saving it from future suffering!
We, as humans need to gain hold of the exact thoughts that the mother bird keeps in her mind that at times, suffering some trouble is always beneficial for tomorrow. However, you should be careful enough not to get so lost in preparing for tomorrow that you lose your today.
This includes all the trees and plants around us. I won’t emphasize as much on this because we all already know that without them, our existence would not be possible. They are those creation ingredients that take in all the carbon dioxide to provide the human race with fresh oxygen! For trees, all I will share with you is this impact-full quote by Kahlil Gibran who says that, “Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky,” I hope that says it all!
TRY THIS NOW
Choose one night in the coming week to move out and look at the sky. Make sure that you choose a night when the sky is clear and full of stars. Stare at the stars and think about everything I have written. Then think about how the world today is, and how unaffected the stars shine. The next day, observe a bird flying in the open air and then think about the hardships it had to undergo before it learnt how to fly so beautifully. Then look out at all the vegetation and thank it for being there, as it is the reason as to why you are there! Deeply engross yourself into all the beautiful lessons leant from this unrivalled nature!
